Review of text files for MSI.
August 2001.

This is a review of text files for content, not format.
I checked all the files I could find with text descriptions, including
catalog files, xxxinfo.txt files, and labels.  This does not constitute
a complete review of these files, as the reviewers may find more liens
on these files.  I'm providing these in advance of the review to give
data providers a chance to start fixing them.


nimath_2001
===========

calinfo.txt - typos:  line 44:  add "and" after "sensitivity".
                      line 45:  "interior" misspelled.
                      line 56:  "identification" misspelled.
                      line 90:  "remediate" is not a word.  The verb for
                                "remediation" is "remedy".  (Maybe "correct"
                                would be better.)

catinfo.txt - The description of the catalogs refers to the MAG instrument
                   rather than MSI.
            -  msifilds.cat is omitted from the list of included catalogs.

msil2ds.cat - In showing the directory structure for volume 1 and volumes
2-n of the data set, it indicates that the catalog subdirectory will not
be included on volumes 2-n, but it is.  What's more, the data set cat on
subsequent volumes is not identical to that on volume 1.  Each data set
has one data set cat, and if a copy of the data set cat appears on
multiple volumes, they all have to be identical copies of one data set cat.

docinfo.txt - Does not include descriptions of much of the contents of the
     document directory, including docinfodata.txt, the instrument
     subdirectory, and the observation_log subdirectory.

docinfodata.txt - This file describes a set of files which are generated
     by the calibration procedure, but they don't tell whether these files
     are a part of the archive or where to find them in the archive.

indxinfo.txt - It says CUMINDEX.TAB contains all the files in this and
previous volumes of this data set.  This is the first volume and it has
no data and there are no previous volumes, so there would be no files
in CUMINDEX.TAB.  What CUMINDEX.TAB actually contains is all the files
in the data set including subsequent volumes.  Same for IMGCMINEX.TAB.
Text should be changed to correctly describe the contents.


nimath_2002
===========

(The files that are identical to the ones on volume 1 are not mentioned here.
If there was an error in a file on volume 1, it needs to be corrected here too.)

browinfo.txt - I take it there aren't any browse files for the Mathilde
phase, but browinfo.txt doesn't say this.  It describes the browse images
as if they actually exist for this data set.


nieros_2001
===========

calinfo.txt - same errors as on nimath_2001.

catinfo.txt - same errors as on nimath_2001, except MSIL2DS.CAT is in the list.

msil2ds.cat - same errors as on nimath_2001.

docinfo.txt - Does not describe the full contents of the document directory,
including the material in the instrument and observation_log subdirectories.

indxinfo.txt - same errors as on nimath_2001.


nieros_2218
===========

catinfo.txt - refers to the MAG catalogs rather than MSI.


nieros_2325
===========

same as the files on nieros_2218.


nieros_4001
===========

aareadme.txt - Should "doyFf_pp_laplon.IMG" be "doyFf_pp_latlon.IMG"?

browinfo.txt - ok, but "work in progress" at the end will presumably not
be in the archived version of the file, since the work described is
expected to be completed before the final submission.  There are other
places in this file as well which describe things which will be part
of the archive when it is completed.  

dsmap.cat - line 19:  "Distoration" (probably should be "distortion").

docinfo.txt - refers to document file msical.txt, which is not (and should
not be) in the directory on this volume.

basemaps attached labels - no text description.
