Review of text files for NIS. August 2001. This is a review of text files for content, not format. I checked all the files I could find with text descriptions, including catalog files, xxxinfo.txt files, and labels. This does not constitute a complete review of these files, as the reviewers may find more liens on these files. nneros_2001 =========== aareadme.txt - Says the volume contains a BROWSE directory containing the level 3 browse facility. This level 3 product is on the other volume, not here. nisds.cat - "This data set is undergoing" (not underwent) "external peer review in August" (not July) "2001." - "The only special parameter in the INDEX/INDEX.TAB file is MET, which is essentially the Mission Elapsed Time in seconds." Is it the mission elapsed time or not? Why "essentially"? - The directory structure of the two volumes is incorrectly described. acknowlg.txt - Does not say what has been reprinted with permission from the Technical Digest. This information would be better included in the labels of the documents in question. Or it could say "Articles from the Johns Hopkins APL Technical Digest, Volume 19, Number 2,(April--June 1998) have been reprinted with permission." nneros_2002 =========== aareadme.txt - The volume directory structure is not described correctly (it looks like a cross between the volume 1 and volume 2 directory structure.) nisds.cat - same errors as on volume 1. (As it should be, there is only one data set cat for this data set, a copy of which is provided on both volumes.) nisbrowse.html - the first many entries in the browse table have no active links, producing the initial impression that no links are available. The user has to scroll a ways down to get to any active links. acknowlg.txt - same problem as on volume 1. --------------------------
