Liens from the 2002 PDS Asteroids Data Review. May 13, 2002. Liens to be resolved by Carol unless noted otherwise. Common to all data sets: ======================== 1. Tyler's emailed corrections dated May 3rd. 2. Supply instrument = compilation and instrument_host = published literature for all data sets which are a compilation from the published literature. 3. All data sets which consist of a table of many asteroids will start with asteroid number, then name, then provisional designation, all with the same format (i5,1x,a17,1x,a10,1x). Exceptions will be cases where the data set will never contain unnumbered asteroids (such as discover), in which case the provisional designations column can be omitted. Provisional designations will not be added, but will be kept where they already exist. (In many cases the provisional designation in the table is that under which the data were published.) NEAR shape model collection =========================== Anne will correct the liens on this data set. 1. Add the Konopliv et al. 2001 reference to the data set cat. 2. Propagate the name translation in the catalog file to the data labels and document the labels. Note: The plate models were not reviewed because the external reviewers were unable to visualize them. We will provide an IDL tool to enable them to render the shape models and they will review the plate models and give comments by email or telecon. Shoot for completing this by the end of June. Stooke shape models =================== 1. Clarify in the labels that the shape models are planetocentric. 2. Check to make sure our interpretation of the definition of west in the models is correct. Clarify the language so everyone can understand it. 3. Change diameter to radius in the description of the cat file. 4. Add a definition of north to the data set cat. It should be the angular momentum vector. If any are not, note that in the label. 5. Change target name of Halley to "1682 Q1 Halley". 6. Corrections file (NOTES.zip) supplied by Anne, dated May 6th. 7. Find out the precision of the models and whether the integral values are control points. Change the format to reflect the precision. Taxonomy ======== 1. Add language to the data set cat pointing the user of the ECAS taxonomic classifications to the ECAS data set for the color and albedo ranges of the classes. Note: The taxonomy data set was not reviewed. Carol will download the file from Dave's site, prepare it for archiving, and distribute it to reviewers for an email or telecon review. Plan to distribute by May 17th and review by the end of May. Asteroid Albedos ================ 1. Remove IMPS absolute magnitude from data table. 2. Say in data set cat that all albedos are geometric. 3. Define acronyms used in the cat file. Asteroid Densities ================== 1. Separate data table into two tables, one with one line per object giving the best estimate, and one with the original data. 2. Reference 30 gives an assumed density, not a derived one. Check if any other entries are for assumed values. Remove all assumed values from the table. 3. Change the two mass columns to solar masses and kilograms, without scaling factors. Calculate the missing values and flag the ones we calculated. 4. Reference 14 refers to star "BD+8o471". Change this to "BD+8deg471". 5. Correct data coverage and quality comment in cat file. (It now refers to the albedos data set.) 6. Fill in both upper and lower uncertainties for symmetric uncertainties. Mean Color Indices ================== (including Anne's and Dave's versions) 1. This data set is to be incorporated as a part of the ECAS data set. 2. Keep the larger file (table 8 from Dave's thesis) including both the final two lines in Dave's version and the number in each sample in Anne's version. 3. Keep the albedo file from Anne's version and document that it is from unpublished data (details in Dave's thesis). 4. Discard the summary table. 5. Use negative fill values. 6. For samples of one, insert correct extrema instead of fill values. 7. The mean of P(v) in table 9 is not what it claims. It is really the un-done version of the other column. Document it correctly in the label. 8. Correct the description in the table 9 label. 9. Say in the data set cat that the albedos are geometric. ECAS ==== 1. Reference the Daultery book in the data set cat. 2. In the ecasev label, add extra words to show how the principal component is calculated from the other file. 3. Add the files of the mean color indices data set to this data set. TNO Photometry ============== 1. Add fill values. 2. Take out the line in the data set cat which refers to the spectra and lightcurve data sets. 3. Spell out TNO in the data set name. Asteroid lightcurve file ======================== 1. Split the data file into two files, one with the data and number of references and the other with the references. (Anne will do this.) 3. Look at all URL refs and see if any can be translated into print refs. (Carol will do this one.) 2. Take out references that are just to URLs. Propagate this to the data file, omitting URL refs and deleting entries with no print references. (Anne will do this.) 3. Update review date in confidence level note. Radar detections ================ 1. Put a note in label description that unpublished detections are given without actual data. 2. Renumber refs so unpublished refs have numbers in the 900's, so they all fit even if there are more than ten. Include ref no. 85, which is unpublished but not in the correct range. 3. Find out if Japanese reference listed as "in press" is published. Mike will check his preprints and Bobby will look in the Subaru library. Anne has already checked all the other "in press"-es. Discovery Circumstances ======================= No liens. Magnitudes and Slopes ===================== No liens. Gaffey Meteorite Spectra ======================== 1. Take out units for the reflectance and reflectance error. IMPS ==== 1. Mark will supply a list of typos he found. Otherwise no liens. MPISP ===== 1. Correct start time and stop time to reflect the earliest and latest paper included. 2. Put in a real confidence level note. Pluto-Charon ============ No liens. Rivkin 3-micron =============== No liens. end of liens list.
