============= UH1997-UH2000 ============= Reviewers: A. Cochran, N. Della Russo General ------- - These data should be combined and archived as one data set. - Additional Tempel 1 data will be merged into this data set, and the data set version number will be incremented. - Consider archiving for the raw data? AC thought there was little value-added. Per MA, SBN has not been a strong proponent of archiving raw data. SBN will not archive the raw data. - Data from Meech's project to image field stars along the path of Tempel 1 should be archived as a separate data set. Data set ID must start with "DI/EAR...". - Include the DI mission.cat file in this archive. - Change data set name to indicate Deep Impact and Earth-based observations, "DI/EAR...". dataset.cat - Remove all references to the DI URL; replace with references to DI Space Science Reviews publication. - Document observing conditions (photometric, high cirrus, etc.) for each night of data. Can provide electronic versions of log books if this is easier. - Add DI mission to this file. instrument.cat - Include the pixel scale of the detector. - Describe the filter system (Kron-Cousins UBVRI). A curve is not needed. Target catalog files - Star names are inconsistent. - No reference to Landolt for SA targets. Need to note this somewhere in the archive. - Why are some star targets called ASTEROID or OBJECT. - Change all non-Tempel 1 targets to CALIBRATION obs_params files - Columns in label need descriptions. - Dataset.cat cat says UBVRI set are used yet it appears that only the R filter for this set. Add a column for filter to the obs_params files. NB: Meech was using other filters from this set for other years of like data. /data - In the data labels, change target name to CALIBRATION for all non-Tempel 1 images and provide the actual target name in another label keyword. - Why does each product label have a citation description? This is allowed in PDS and OLAF. It is not appropriate to cite calibration files. Change OLAF to cite only product files in the /data directory? Remove citation description from calibration-related labels. - Politely request a separate table of the x and y pixel location comet in images for which there is astrometry. If available for all observations, then provide if possible. UH1997: /data/1999_09_27 - Two of three Tempel 1 images do not appear to be flat-fielded although the FITS headers indicate the images where. - Dataset.cat cat says UBVRI set are used yet it appears that only the R filter for this set. Add a column for filter to the obs_params files. NB: Meech was using other filters from this set for other years of like data. UH2000: - NB: These are Tempel 1 orbital path observations that provide secondary standards along th path of Tempel 1 to be used for non-photometric nights. These data are only bias-subtracted and flat-fielded. - There are dates in the path observations that do not match Tempel 1 observations from 1997-1998. Investigate this discrepancy. Was this due to earlier non-photometric nights? Were these observations used to calibrate the Tempel 1 data from 1997-1999, or are these actually part of Meech's orbital path imaging project. Archive these data accordingly.
