List of liens from Jan 13-14 2014 PDS review. DATA_SET_ID = EAR-C-I0655-3-MOSAICTEMPEL1-V1.0 File: 'catalog/dataset.cat' --> Dataset.cat says error in conversion factors is 2e-13 erg/s/cm^2/Ang but dataset.cat for MOSAIC data says 2%. Are these correct as stated? --> Please add a brief note in the dataset.cat description mentioning that this data set resulted from PMDAP funding (if applicable). --> The reference mentioned on line 85: Bessel 1989 should have a REFERENCE_ID created and a reference added to the reference catalog file. Currently the only the BESSEL1999 reference exists in the PDS master catalog. --> The dataset.cat file says all images are tracked at the comet, but this does not appear to be true in all cases (e.g. compare kp050703_066 to 061). The discrepancy should be noted in the CONFIDENCE_LEVEL_OVERVIEW, and explained if possible. --> Confidence level overview: Should there be a note here that the comet is occasionally smeared, even when the rates are followed? --> Optional: Data set overview should be reformatted (bad line breaks). --> Is there a published paper with these data that could be cited? --> Lines 49-54 mention the use of dark frames, but none are found in the data set. Please remove this reference and if needed, explain why they were not used. --> The CITATION_DESC should use commas instead of periods as delimiters. (OLAF issue) Directory: 'data/raw' --> The following raw files do not have corresponding files in the 'reduced/' directory. Check to see if this is correct. --> --> data/raw/2005_july03/tempel_1/kp050703_057.* --> --> data/raw/2005_july04/standards/kp050704_072.* --> --> data/raw/2005_july06/standards/* (except kp050706_064.*) --> --> data/raw/2005_july07/standards/kp050707_049.* --> --> data/raw/2005_july07/standards/kp050707_052.* --> --> data/raw/2005_july07/standards/kp050707_053.* --> --> data/raw/2005_july07/standards/kp050707_061.* --> --> data/raw/2005_july07/standards/kp050707_063.* --> --> data/raw/2005_july09/standards/kp050709_040.* --> --> data/raw/2005_july09/standards/kp050709_046.* Files: 'data/raw/*/*/*.lbl' --> Most of the OBJECT/END_OBJECT entries do not match. The END_OBJECT only reflect the end of a generic object, not the object it is part of. In the example below, the END_OBJECT should equal 'MAIN_HEADER': ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ OBJECT = MAIN_HEADER BYTES = 17280 HEADER_TYPE = "FITS" INTERCHANGE_FORMAT = "BINARY" RECORDS = 6 DESCRIPTION = "FITS Standard NOST 100-2.0" END_OBJECT = HEADER ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ --> --> This is found with all MAIN_HEADER, CCD*_HEADER, and CCD*_IMAGE objects. Files: 'data/reduced/*/*centers*.lbl' --> Please indicate in the labels whether the (x,y) positions given are 1-based or 0-based in the definitions for those fields in the tables. Files: 'data/reduced/*/conv*.lbl --> Some of the labels say there are 4 columns when the table has only 3, or visa versa. Double check to make sure all of the labels match their corresponding data table. Example: "data/reduced/2005_july05/conv_stand_july05.*" Directory: 'document/' --> The log files need to be presented in something other than PostScript. SBN will happily accept PDF/A, and can provide assistance in converting PDF to PDF/A. Flat ASCII text is also acceptable. --> If possible, please get permission to reprint the old version of the instrument manual that is applicable to these data in the document/ directory of this data set. File: 'voldesc.cat' --> All of the entries for "^TARGET_CATALOG" are not included in the data set. This field should be removed or target catalog files added (assuming updates need to be made to the master PDS catalog). Please impose uniformity on the FILTER_NAME values in a way that will make users happy. If easily possible, change the DSID to reflect that the dataset also contains raw data. The DSID in the case would probably be changed to "EAR-C-I0655-2/3-MOSAICTEMPEL1-V1.0". The orientation/setup of the 8 CCDs in the MOSAIC instrument does not appear to be documented anywhere. It should be spelled out somewhere, perhaps the data set catalog file or the PDS labels for the raw images.
