DART internal review possible issues By SBN-UMD T. Barnes General (1) In the Identification_Area of each collection, the values are very obtuse and/or derivative and/or repetitive. Ex: "DART Telescopic Observations, Lowell Discovery Telescope, Lowell Calibrated Data Collection" or "DART Spacecraft Bundle, DRACO instrument, Draco Calibrated Data Collection". Please make them descriptive as a title, ex: "DART DRACO Calibrated Data Collection" (2) In the Identification_Area of each collection xml file, the <description> is lacking and is almost the same minus one word (with few exceptions). This should be more like an ABSTRACT for the collection. Current existing Ex: "DART Telescopic Observation Bundle, Lowell Calibrated Data Collection". Please be more descriptive. (3) The bundle readme.txt file explains where data for each collection lives based on how they have it organized. Directory structure should not be defined, as they can be changed. The only rule is the files need to be found deeper in (ex: a data file for a collection should be able to find the collection at the current or parent directory). (4) In the collection/bundle xml files, the author/editor lists in the citation sections are formatted differently. Example: "C. Ernst; ..." vs "Ernst, C.; ...". We should be consistent. Is there a PDS recommended format? (5) Please note with how the bundles are organized, that if an updated collection is included, there would be no need to version the bundle. I don't know if this was in mind when the structure was designed. Only collections would be versioned. If new collections are added, then and only then, would the bundle be versioned. For this purpose I think it is very important that the citation related information in the collections be as descriptive as possible since that is what is changing. urn:nasa:pds:dart_teleobs::1.0 (1) dart_teleobs/documentation/example_labels/ files have xml files, but the (1a) collection label is not higher up in level, (1b) nor are the files part of the collection_inventory.csv file. (2) Misc file: dart_teleobs/validateXML.sh. Should this file exist as part of the archive? (3) I don't know if the checksum file should live at the root of the bundle or in the bundle at all. It is not listed as part of the bundle and the checksums include the bundle directory name (which can change). Not sure if that is normal. This file is great for deliveries to PDS, but probably should not be in the bundle. file: dart_teleobs/md5sum.txt. Note this file is outside the bundle for the s/c.
