Driving Directions to Campus
From Points North:
Take I-95 south. After the intersection with Route 212, 95 splits in half. Stay to the right, headed for 495 (Beltway) West, but stay in the left lane of the ones that bear right. Immediately after the split there is a left exit for the Park & Ride and Route 1. Take the exit for Route 1.
This exit dumps you onto 95/495 South, at which point you should stay to the right and get into the service lane that leads to the Route 1 exit. Take this Route 1 exit and stay to the right, turning right (south) onto Route 1 at the light.
To the Main entrance:
Continue about 1.5 miles south on Route 1. You will pass a fire station on your left just before reaching the Main entrance to campus, at the intersection of Route 1 and Paint Branch Parkway/Campus Drive. Turn right into the Main entrance.
To the Stadium entrance:
About 1 mile south, bear right onto Route 193 (University Blvd) west. Continue straight past the first, back entrance to the campus at the intersection with Metzerott Road. The next light is Stadium Drive. Turn left here into the Stadium entrance.
From Points South:
Take the Metro. Seriously.
If you really must drive, take the Beltway (495) in the shortest direction (north and east from northern Virginia, west and north from southern Prince Georges County in Maryland and Alexandria in Virginia) to Route 1. Exit South on Route 1.
To the Main entrance:
Continue about 1.5 miles south on Route 1. You will pass a fire station on your left just before reaching the Main entrance to campus, at the intersection of Route 1 and Paint Branch Parkway/Campus Drive. Turn right into the Main entrance.
To the Stadium entrance:
About 1 mile south, bear right onto Route 193 (University Blvd) west. Continue straight past the first, back entrance to the campus at the intersection with Metzerott Road. The next light is Stadium Drive. Turn left here into the Stadium entrance.
From Points East:
Take Route 50 west to 495 North. Take Exit 22 to the Baltimore-Washington ("BW") Parkway North, then immediately exit to Greenbelt Road, Route 193, going West (turn right at the end of the ramp).
To the Main entrance:
About a mile after the intersection with Route 201, Kenilworth Ave, bear left at the light onto the street that passes behind the small firehouse (it's route 430). This street ends at Route 1, where you will turn left (south). Continue south on Route 1 about 0.75 miles. After you pass a large fire station on your left, the Main entrance to campus will come up on your right at the light. Turn right into the Main entrance.
To the Stadium Entrance:
After about three miles you will pass the first, back entrance to the campus at the intersection with Metzerott Road. Continue on Route 193, which is now called University Blvd, to the next light at Stadium Drive. Turn left here into the Stadium entrance.
From Points West:
In Maryland, take Route 270 to 495 East. From Northern Virginia, take the George Washington Parkway, Virginia Route 193, or Route 267 (Dulles Access Road), whichever is convenient, to 495 north and then East.
To the Main entrance:
Follow the Beltway Inner Loop (495 East) to Route 1, and exit south bound. (turn right at the end of the ramp). Continue about 1.5 miles south on Route 1. You will pass a fire station on your left just before reaching the Main entrance to campus, at the intersection of Route 1 and Paint Branch Parkway/Campus Drive. Turn right into the Main entrance.
To the Stadium entrance:
Exit the Beltway Inner Loop (495 East) at New Hampshire Avenue (Route 650), southbound. At the second light (two short blocks), turn left onto Adelphi Road. Once again at the second light (about a mile) turn left onto Metzerott Road. Yet again at the second light (another mile), turn right onto University Blvd (Route 193). At the first light, turn left into the Stadium Entrance.
Driving Directions to Visitor Parking Lots
To the Paint Branch Drive Visitor Lot:
Note: This is a cash only lot. No checks; no credit cards; no barter.
From the Main entrance:
After turning into the main entrance, immediately bear right onto Paint Branch Drive. Go straight through the two stop signs. After the second stop sign, take the first left into the visitor parking lot.
From the Stadium entrance:
After turning onto campus, go three-quarters of the way around the traffic circle, exiting onto Stadium Drive. Follow this road around the stadium and down the hill, through two stop signs at pedestrian crossings, to a stop-sign at a four-way intersection. Continue straight through this intersection to the next stop sign, at a "T" intersection. Turn left.
After the next stop sign, take the first left into the visitor parking lot.
To the Stadium Drive Garage:
NOTE: There is a building construction site adjacent to the visitor's entrance to this garage. When last I checked, the green-on-white parking sign was behind the chain-link fence around the construction site, and thus somewhat obscured. This is a very congested area, full of pedestrians and confused or distracted drivers, especially between classes. If you miss the garage entrance the first time, continue straight about half a block to the stop sign and turn around in the intersection, if it's clear, or turn left and use the parking lot to turn around.
From the Main entrance:
After tuning into the main entrance, immediately bear right onto Paint Branch Drive. At the first stop sign, turn left onto Stadium Drive. Continue straight through the next stop sign (4-way intersection). Follow Stadium Drive up the hill, past two more stop signs at pedestrian crossings, around the stadium and back of the parking garage to the traffic circle.
Exit the traffic circle on the opposite side, onto Valley Drive. The Stadium Drive Garage will be on your left. The visitor parking entrance is at the far end. Turn left at the parking sign into a tiny entrance lot, and left again to enter the garage.
From the Stadium entrance:
After turning onto campus, go right at the traffic circle. The Stadium Drive Garage will be on your left. The visitor parking entrance is at the far end. Turn left at the parking sign into a tiny entrance lot, and left again to enter the garage.
To the Regents Drive Garage:
When we have small numbers of people coming and plenty of advance notice, we can sometimes get daily permits to park in the visitors area (section RR) of this garage. There is no metered or hourly visitor parking in this garage , so unless you have a permit in hand to park here, do not attempt to park in this garage. If you arrive and find that section RR is full, you will have to go to one of the other visitor parking cash lots.
From the Main entrance:
After turning onto campus, continue up Campus Drive to the traffic circle with the big "M" in the middle. Turn right at this circle onto Regents Drive. The Regents Parking Garage will come up on your left. Go to the far end, to a four-way stop at the intersection with Stadium Drive.
Turn left (uphill) up Stadium Drive and take the first left into the parking garage. Park only in the section marked "RR".
From the Stadium entrance:
After turning onto campus you will come to a traffic circle. Go three-quarters of the way around the circle, to Stadium Drive. Follow Stadium Drive around the back of the stadium and down hill past two stop signs at pedestrian crossings. Just after the second stop sign, turn right into the parking garage. Park only in the section marked "RR".
